To Our Prospective Parents of Kalinda,
As Principal of Kalinda Primary School, representing the children, staff and community, it is with much pride that I introduce you to our school.
As parents you are about to make an incredibly important decision about your child’s future. The choice of a school is not only for academic results but for development of your child as an individual with very special talents and skills who will thrive in the society of the future. A school is also a community where you will be sharing your child’s learning journey alongside teachers and other parents.
By selecting Kalinda you are choosing a school where every child is special. Every child will be nurtured so that they have every opportunity to reach their full potential. I state this confidently because every year, as I stand and look at our young people on their Year 6 Graduation night, I feel immense pride in what they have achieved. Each and every one of these children is intelligent, creative, innovative and tolerant. They are literate and numerate, expert in information technology, are informed, can access information, form and hold opinions, converse with people from all backgrounds and can find solutions to problems. They demonstrate leadership, integrity, enthusiasm, kindness, courage and vision. All those qualities that are vital for success in life.
Our school has grown at an amazing rate over the past six years. Our children and parents are our best advocates. They enjoy our positive and supportive environment, our progressive, extensive programs, including values and leadership education and our beautiful, large grounds. Prep and Grades 1 and 2 have specialist programs in Library, Art, Music and Environmental Science. Grades 3 to 6 have specialist programs in Art, Music, Physical Education and Japanese. We have private instrumental music sessions available in violin, keyboard, piano, drums, flute and guitar. We also teach Japanese and have an extensive sport program. We have multiple computers in each classroom, which are used constantly as tools for learning. We also have an extensive chess program which enhances thinking skills.
We offer a comprehensive and extensive program of education. Transition sessions commence early in Term 4. These sessions are held once a fortnight and finish with an Orientation morning at the beginning of December. Two Prep Information nights for parents are also held. Information regarding the Transition program will be sent out to parents of enrolled students in Term 3.
One of my favourite sayings is that life should not be counted by the breaths we take, rather by the moments that take our breath away. As your child develops at Kalinda Primary you will experience many of these moments, as teachers we do every day and that is why at Kalinda we are passionate about your child’s education.
