KALINDA PRIMARY SCHOOL COUNCIL
School Council is made up of representative members from our parents, staff and management. It is our role to oversee the school’s operations; ensuring that we continue to meet our obligations in a host of areas. To assist in this process there are various sub-committees of council:
- Resources (formulates the school’s income statements and expenditure budgets; ensures we continue to be financially well-managed and meet audit and other regulatory accountabilities - includes Fundraising Committee)
- Education (matters relating to curriculum and school policy)
- Community (oversees the service groups which operate within the school i.e. Canteen, Out of School Hours Care Program, Uniform Shop)
- Facilities (assists with ongoing maintenance and improvements to school buildings and grounds)
- Marketing (undertakes various strategies to ensure that the school maintains a positive and vibrant profile within the local and broader communities)
Council has an active role in communicating with our own school community on matters of importance and/or interest to our families. At times we are required to liaise on behalf of the school with Local, State and Federal Government Departments or agencies and the wider community e.g. business.
I have been a Kalinda parent (of four children) for the past 16 years and a member of School Council for 10 of those years. During the last 7 years I have had the privilege of performing the role of School Council President. This has been an extremely rewarding experience for me on so many levels. I am constantly amazed at not only the quality of our educational programs and facilities but the professionalism, warmth and generosity of the people that make up the Kalinda Community. If you are considering enrolling your child at Kalinda Primary School in the future I invite you to visit our wonderful school. I am confident that if you do, you too will see and feel what Kalinda has to offer your child and your family.
