Dear Prospective Parents of Kalinda,
As Principal of Kalinda Primary School, representing the children, staff and community, it is with much pride that I introduce you to our school.
As parents you are about to make an incredibly important decision about your child’s future. The choice of a school is not only for academic results but for development of your child as an individual with very special talents and skills. A school is also a community where you will be sharing your child’s learning journey alongside teachers and other parents.
By selecting Kalinda you are choosing a school where every child is special. Every child will be nurtured so that they have every opportunity to reach their full potential. As well as providing excellent teaching of literacy and numeracy, primary school should provide the opportunity for your child to develop their curiosity, creativity, and problem solving skills: these are skills for the future. Kalinda Primary develops these skills through the classroom, specialist and extra-curricular programs. Student Leadership is fostered in all children and our assemblies are run by the students. Kalinda’s strong culture of community supported by values, enjoys an excellent reputation. Our students demonstrate leadership, integrity, enthusiasm, and kindness; all qualities which are vital for success in life.
Our children and parents are our best advocates. They enjoy our positive and supportive environment and our progressive, extensive programs. Your Prep child will experience programs in Library, Art, Music and Japanese Language with specialist teachers. Our extra-curricular programs provide support and extension programs in a wide variety of subjects. Private instrumental music sessions are available. A comprehensive sport program is complemented by our sports stadium and much-admired sporting facilities and our beautiful, large grounds. We have up-to-date technology in each classroom, Importantly, our staff is highly skilled and well respected in the education community.
We have a sister-school in Japan. Some of our students visited Japan prior to Covid in 2019. These young people are living in an amazing time in history. It is a time to develop a global society and for that to happen they must be compassionate, tolerant and understanding. We are living in a world where many of our students will work overseas or with another country. We encourage them to have an open mind and relish discovering other people, customs, languages and careers.
Transition sessions commence early in November, Term 4. These sessions (4) are held once a week for one and a half hours and finish with an Orientation morning at the beginning of December. Your children will meet the Foundation teachers and the other new students and begin to make new friends. The Transition timetable is included in the Information pack. We encourage you to book a personal tour or please ring us at any time if you have any queries
Kalinda is an excellent school where your child will experience the wonder of learning and develop strong social connections. We welcome your child and your family to the Kalinda community.
