We are so lucky to have such a large area, to use as our Library, at Kalinda.
It is filled with many classic novels, and new and relevant topics for staff, and students to view. The topics purchased by the Librarian and Literacy coordinators all support the current curriculum.
We celebrate the Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) winners and shortlisted titles and support local artists with relevant topics.
Once a year, we have a Bookfair, in which families can purchase new and outstanding novels. We also have Scholastic orders within the school, where families can order and pay online, and purchases are sent home.
Grades at Kalinda Primary School are allocated time to borrow books weekly. We ask families to help support our value of respect, by using a fabric book bag to look after our books, so all can enjoy them.
The Libraryopens into our Japanese Garden. This area is often used by classes to sit and read, listen to a story, or even sometimes mindfulness. In the garden, we have several time capsules, and gifts from our sister school, Lillyvale. It is in the middle of our main building and has wonderful natural lighting.
We are very excitedto share our latest support for families and students. The link below allows students and staff to search for books that they are interested in, from home or their classroom.
