STEM - Science, Technology (Design and Digital), Engineering, and Mathematics - is a vital part of 21st-century learning. At Kalinda, STEM education nurtures creativity, problem-solving, innovation, and critical thinking - skills that are essential for success in our rapidly changing world.
Every student at Kalinda participates in a 60-minute STEM session each week, led by our dedicated specialist teacher. These sessions are hands-on, inquiry-driven, and designed to spark curiosity as students explore the world around them through real-world challenges and engaging activities.
3D Printing
As part of the many engaging STEM activities offered at Kalinda, students have been exploring sustainable technology by using a 3D printer with recycled materials. During STEM classes, they design and create their own models - ranging from simple tools to creative prototypes - while learning about the engineering design process, environmental responsibility, and innovative problem-solving. This hands-on experience not only sparks creativity but also highlights the importance of sustainable practices in modern technology.
The students have shown incredible enthusiasm and curiosity as they bring their ideas to life. Our community plastic recycling 3D printing program is the result of a Teaching Initiative Grant funded by Bank First.
