Our library is a vibrant and welcoming space at the heart of Kalinda Primary School, designed to foster a lifelong love of reading, storytelling, and learning. It is a place where curiosity is encouraged, imagination is nurtured, and students are supported to explore a wide range of literature and information.
Each class visits the library once a week with their classroom teacher for a dedicated library session. These sessions focus on building reading skills, discovering new authors and genres, and developing information literacy in a supportive and engaging environment.
The library is proudly led by Martina, our dedicated librarian, who works closely with both students and staff to support literacy across all year levels. A team of senior students are also selected each year to serve as Library Leaders, taking on responsibilities such as organising books, assisting younger students, and promoting a love of reading throughout the school community.
One of the unique features of our library is its beautiful Japanese garden, a peaceful outdoor space where students are welcome to sit and enjoy a book in a quiet, natural setting. This special area also reflects our school’s commitment to learning Japanese as an additional language, providing a meaningful connection between cultural appreciation, language, and literacy.
At Kalinda, we believe the library is more than just a place to borrow books - it's a dynamic learning hub that inspires curiosity, connection, and a love of learning.
You can now explore our library collection online! Using the link below, students and staff can search for books they’re interested in from home or right from their classroom.
