At Kalinda Primary School, we are proud to offer excellent sports programs and facilities that support a wide range of physical activities for all students. Our grounds and programs are designed to promote healthy, active lifestyles, while encouraging teamwork, confidence, and a lifelong love of sport and active living.
Kalinda boasts facilities for almost every major sport:
A large oval, purpose-built for junior cricket, soccer, and AFL 9s competitions.
A fully equipped indoor stadium, regularly used for basketball competitions, and adaptable for netball, indoor volleyball, table tennis, and badminton.
Two full-sized, synthetic outdoor basketball/netball courts.
A dedicated synthetic outdoor volleyball court.
These facilities allow our students to experience a wide variety of sports, both recreationally and competitively.
Our Physical Education program is led by a qualified PE specialist and is designed to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to lead active, healthy lives—both now and in the future. Students are encouraged to strive for personal bests, develop resilience, and embrace the values of fair play, respect, and inclusivity.
All students participate in a 60-minute PE session each week with our specialist teacher.
Students in Grades 5 and 6 also take part in an additional weekly sport session, involving intra-school and interschool competitions.
Foundation to Year 2: Students take part in an intensive skill development program focusing on fundamental motor skills, including throwing, catching, bouncing, striking, kicking, running, jumping, leaping, and skipping.
Years 3 to 6: Students build upon these foundations by developing sport-specific skills, learning basic game strategies, and gaining an understanding of rules and fair play across various sports. They also have opportunities to participate in extra-curricular sporting activities, including externally run basketball and cricket tournaments.
We celebrate sport and school spirit through whole-school Athletics and Cross Country events held annually. Students dress in their house colours and compete to earn points for their team. Students aged 9 and above who excel in these events may go on to represent Kalinda at district, division, regional, and state competitions.
Kalinda also proudly participates in externally run events such as:
These programs allow students to extend their sporting experiences, build friendships, and represent the school with pride.
